ESPORTS

Our esports course is based on skill development in a multitude of areas to ensure you have the full breadth of knowledge to prepare, manage and host events. This all starts with understanding the esports industry locally, nationally and internationally, including key skills, games and teams. We also explore the key game mechanics you need to know like the back of your hand to boost your esports success.

Over the two years, these foundations are then built upon with management skills; events management, coaching a team, shout casting a competition and how to master live streaming. And to top it all off, you need to know how to make it: self-promotion, marketing and creating a sellable brand. Of course, you’re going to need to spend time in our industry-standard Overclockers Games and Esports Labs, fully equipped with the latest technology, as well as stretching your skills to gain experience of the event spaces using sound, lighting and other exciting tech.

Alongside all of this, we directly connect you with industry and competition by working directly with key esports organisations like the British Esports Federation to compete in real esports competitions, so you leave us with hands-on experience in professional competitive environments.

Pro Gamer

Pro gamers are usually signed to a particular team and will compete in different tournaments for prize money.

Streamer

Esports streamers broadcast their gaming sessions live on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

Caster

A caster is another name for a commentator, who will speak over the action to engage, inform and entertain the viewer.

Esports Host

An esports host will present tournament matches to an audience, either with a team of experts or by talking to players about their matches.

Esports Producer

An esports producer puts on the tournaments in which gamers compete against each other at live-streamed events.

Videographer

Videographers spend their time filming productions using associated production equipment. During postproduction, they will edit the film and raw footage using video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.

Web Developer

A web developer is responsible for the coding, design and modification of websites according to a client’s specifications, including layout and function.

Graphic Designer

A graphic designer works to bring all kinds of communication alive. Graphic designers produce designs that get their clients’ messages across with high visual impact. They are responsible for creating all design and marketing promotions for esports events, etc.

Social Media Executive

A social media executive’s job is to be the front face of any brand. They provide not only entertaining content, but informative pieces to keep their community and followers informed on exciting things happening within a business.

Content Creator

An esports content creator will gather current esports content, edit and upload it to social media such as Twitch and TikTok. They will work closely with various positions within the esports team to accomplish goals.

Esports Coach

Like traditional sports, a coach will help the team train against other teams to improve. Coaches work closely with the players to motivate them, identify their strengths and weaknesses and make sure they are playing at their best. They will develop strategies and analyse opponents to win as many matches – and tournaments – as possible.

Physical Therapist

Esports athletes can be prone to upper-body injuries. Physical therapists work with gamers to treat injuries and educate them to prevent future injuries.

Wellness & Mental Coach

A wellness & mental coach helps professionals to identify risk behaviours before they become problematic, and makes esports gaming a safe and positive experience for players and families.

Nutritionist

A nutritionist's job is to develop and deliver the performance nutrition strategy for esports players. They provide a high-level, evidence-based nutritional support that optimises the performance of esports players, contributing to the maintenance and development of a world-class high-performance environment.

Event Manager

Event managers are responsible for ensuring a particular tournament or esports event is delivered as expected.

Runner

Runners provide the opportunity to gain vital experience and knowledge of the production process, offering valuable networking opportunities, and are often seen as the first step on the ladder for people aspiring to roles in broadcasting media.

Game Translator

Game translators convert a game’s story, its characters, the dialogue and basically everything in the game world from one language to another.

Network Engineer

Network engineers primarily handle installing, configuring, and supporting firewalls to ensure network security.

Sound Engineer

A sound engineer is responsible for setting up the required equipment, recording, and then editing and mixing, enhancing the sound to achieve a high-quality recording.

Lighting Engineer

Lighting engineers are responsible for setting up and operating lighting for events such as esports tournaments.

Journalist

Esports journalists may be required to write news stories, features, analysis articles, opinion pieces, and match reports, as well as interview players and other people in the industry.

Photographer

Photographers create visual images for an exceptional range of creative, technical and documentary purposes. A professional esports photographer will capture high-quality images at esports events.

PR/Marketing

Public relations is all about managing the flow of information from a specific organisation to the public. PR executives will look to secure positive coverage with publications and other influencers to grow the company’s reputation.
